| BOSTON, the
capital of Massachussetts is a major center of American history, culture and learning.
The central area of the city is clustered around the harbor on the Shawmut Peninsula,
while Greater Boston makes up the surrounding area. The city's most beautiful
green space is the 48 acre Boston Common that was established in 1634 and
has served as everything from a military camp to a gallows site. Key Revolutionary
historical sites have been linked together on a walking tour known as The Freedom
Trail, a 2.5 mile route is marked in red on the sidewalk that starts at Boston
Common and ends at Bunder Hill in Charlestown. |
